Buffalo Catholic Cemeteries exists to steward and maintain Catholic burial grounds, provide burial services in accordance with Church tradition, and support families with care and professionalism during times of loss.

History
Buffalo Catholic Cemeteries has served families across Western New York since 1934, when Bishop William Turner appointed Msgr. James Hogan as the first director of Catholic Cemeteries. Under his leadership, several cemeteries were blessed and established, including Holy Cross in Lackawanna, Mount Olivet in Kenmore, Holy Sepulchre in Cheektowaga, and Gate of Heaven in Lewiston.
As the needs of the community continued to grow, leadership transition in 1955 to Msgr. Joseph J. Sekelsky. During his tenure, Assumption Cemetery on Grand Island and Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lockport were established, further expanding Buffalo Catholic Cemeteries’ presence throughout the region.

Leadership Today
Building on this long-standing tradition, Buffalo Catholic Cemeteries is currently directed by Thomas Christy, who oversees staff and operations across seven cemetery locations. In addition to the cemeteries listed above, our organization also manages St. Adalbert Cemetery, with locations on Dale Road in Cheektowaga and Broadway in Lancaster.
